Dreads "killed" by crocheting - how to save them?

Help! Save My Dreads

First, i want to say that your locks dont look too bad, but the crochet hooks do some permanent damage. I started mine a year and a half ago with the backcombing method and palm rolling ALOT. When I found this site, i found out why palm rolling was harmful & stopped altogether, now my locks are softer and i dont worry about the bumps and zigzags anymore( just think as them adding more personality!) If you just keep washing how you are now and leave them alone, they will lock in time, its a long process but its worth it.

Thank you for the advise- ive been doing this all on my own for the past year with only the (mis)information i get on the internet. I get why the butter & shampoo is harmful, but can u tell me why i shouldnt palm roll? Also, i feel like my hair

Well, i did by a kit from dreadheadhq, one of the cheaper ones that cost ... Let's say about $60 (i dont remember exactly) then i realized, after using the wax 2 times, that i hate it so stopped using that & the lock pepper. I do use the organic dread shampoo( $14) from them & sometimes the spray($10) but im looking for advise on the best dread soap so i can stop giving dhhq my $!. I have a huge aloe vera plant so i plan to start using that to moisturize ($0) . So from now on, the only thing i need to spend money on is a good dread soap... A lot less $ than before dreadlocks!

That is disgusting! I was warned about knottyboy products & wax itself, but never had the guts to experiment on myself- thanks for showing us the evils of wax. Btw- i have heard apple cider vinegar & hot water would get the wax out- anybody know if thats true??
