It's been 2 months? :( Please help me!!!

Introduce Yourself

Hi Lydia, I'm new to dreads myself, a month in, you said you have been washing your hair, what kind of shampoo are you using? The best shampoo to use is one that is organic & contains non of the fillers that soften the hair. I use & love the products from dreadlockshampoo.com

I also don't wash my hair much I do however use the BS rinse & follow with the ACV rinse, this will help an oily scalp, in time, & still leave the hair clean & better able to dread. I also use a sea salt spray twice a week.

Dreads don't happen over night & for some it takes longer... this is where one learns patience. 8) It looks as though your hair is sectioning, dreads & knots will come & go until they decide to stay.

I'm sure someone will come & help you even more.

Blessings

Newbie - Need some tips :)

Introduce Yourself

Greetings!

My dreads are about a month old, still babies.

I just wanted to say that I started using the back combing method, before I found this wonderful place & decided to go natural. Anyway most of the back combed dreads came out on their own, cheeky little devils! lol and are reforming into dreads on their own.

bs and acv wash

Dread Maintenance

I have only been doing an acv rinse once a week, my hair is soft & straight & thick, with good results after using the BS or sea salt rinse.

I think your hair is beautiful! The way you have it woven is elegant.

I never thought....

Thanks all for the replies. 8-) I have tried the sea salt/ water spray once But will give it a try again.

I thought my hair would not be so soft & silky since I haven't been using B/S & ACV & nothing else.

General Talk

I'd be complaining about having soft hair! lol

My 3rd. week into "Dreads" or I should say trying to achieve natural dreads & my hair is still as soft as a baby's behind.

I've done the BS without the ACV rinse & I look like a dandelion that is ready to release its seeds to the world. Today I did a lemon juice rinse instead of the bs rinse in hopes that the lemon juice will take some of the softness out.

I do realize that its only been 3 wks & part of this process is learning how to accept the slow & natural progression of ones hair deciding to dread. I do have a few back comb dreads though.

Does anyone know or heard of a person that their hair just refused to dread?

I just had to let off some steam & figured you all would understand. 8D

Blessings,

Moon Raven.

This definitely won't be an easy journey...

General Talk

Ignore the people that will not understand, explain to those that have an open mind to learning the truth about dreads & most importantly hold your head high & be proud that you are doing what you want, at least concerning your dreads, & not hurting a single soul by doing so.

Blessings,

Moon Raven.
