Hi guys! :)

Introduce Yourself

Hello! Your hair is so pretty! Love the way you have it put up. I'm only a few months in and have lost a good deal of length so I can't figure out what to do with it except a standard ponytail or bun. I've seen such fantastic styles with dreads!

Separating dreads

Dread Maintenance

Thanks! I want them to pretty well do as they please but this on section is just a true rebel! Lol I love the rest of my head! I originally began organic locks just as a kind of 'vanity fast' ad thought I may not kep them forever but who knows! My husband isn't wild about them and sometimes I miss running my fingers through my ponytail but life's too short not to try new things. I've always thought the organic 'hippie' look was beautiful even before I knew that 'hippie' was a word :)And it doesn't hurt to just pull them. I guess I just don't want to completely ruin my hair in case I feel like I've received whatever lesson I felt led to find and want to comb them out. (Which I hear isn't an easy task...LOL)

Separating dreads

Dread Maintenance

I ramble.. Lol the question is 'is there a point in dread maturity that you won't have to seperate them as often?':D

Separating dreads

Dread Maintenance

Holy Moses my hair is a hot mess! LOL! I'm something like 4 months in and have a fuzz ball! I know this is normal but my question is on separating...I have to do it about every day. I know that could be normal but how long will it need to be so aggressively seperated? I can tell what goes where and don't mess with hair that obviously knows where it's going. There's just a couple areas that make a huge clump and I feel like I may be breaking too many hairs by constantly separating the big bunch. It's a group of 4 that just mat together in a rat's nest almost over night, EVERY night. I assume I sleep pretty hard on that particular section!

When does the fizzling stop?

Dread Maintenance

I am sure it depends on your hair so I bet there's no real time period. Im only a few months in so I'm still frizzy. It's so hard not to want to control them, especially if you've been raised in a conformist smooth-straight-hair-is-ideal environment (I was!)I keep hearing about acquiring patience for them. They'll mature and a smooth out eventually :) Don't worry

A tough week with dreadlocks

Introduce Yourself

LOL! I like 'dread mom'! :) I came on here to vent my frustrations as well! My hair looked so pretty the first 2 months and I'm now in month 3 and the back is a fuzzy mess!it looks pretty rough. But I am hanging in there! I have some Buff headbands (the full Buff) that I pull down over the back at night but it's still so ratty!

I gave in to the comb . . . HELP!

Help! Save My Dreads

I know what you mean by fearing a 'stereotyping' of you. I'm in Appalachia and formally a white collar drone and I've already had people ask me 'oh so you're probably wanting pot legalized too?' Just because I have dreads. They just assume I have a big opinion on the matter. Never mind the fact it's not at the top of my list of things to advocate right now. (Nothing against it, it's just not a hot topic for me):)Hoping you have a peaceful restart and best wishes!
