I've tried it all, but this itchy scalp just wont quit. Help! D:

Dreads Hair and Scalp Health

Keep in mind my scalp isn't very dry, but it gets itchy and will flake if I scratch it. It's almost as if I shed more skin on my scalp than your average person, but my scalp and hair are still moisturized plenty. I've tried adding tea tree oil to my regular regimen of lavender, rosemary, and peppermint baking soda wash. I've tried a shampoo bar from dreadlockshampoo.com. My scalp feels fine the day of and the day after washes. The only thing I can think of is that I hoop a little bit every day, maybe the tiny bit of sweat resting on my scalp irritates it but after having my dreads for 9 months I would imagine that that would have subsided by now. I just want to be able to go longer than 2-3 days without washing, it's such a pain waiting for my hair to dry :,/ please help me beautiful dready friends!!

That's what i was thinking too Mons, it's just a real small travel size bottle and i only put maybe half a tablespoon of aloe in there. It'll probably only take about a week or two to use it up.

Help with this aloe vera spray please! D:

Dread Products

Well i always use cool water and do a cold rinse at the end of my washes. I've always had dandruff and an itchy scalp, it's not just because of my dreads. And i only put a small amount of the aloe in the spray because i know it can be really conditioning. I've been putting little bits of it on my scalp from the start because it's one of the only things that helps with the itching and flaking and my hair's been knotting up just fine. I never put it on the actual dread, just on my scalp.

Help with this aloe vera spray please! D:

Dread Products

So i recently made a spray for my itchies, it consists of a few drops of rosemary, peppermint, and lavendar essential oils, water, and some gel from one of my aloe plants. Normally when I cut open a plant i store the gel in the fridge or else it will go bad. Should i be storing this spray in fridge as well? I'd hate to have to because i like to carry it with me if i get itchy on the go, but i wouldn't want it to go bad..any suggestions?

Please and thanks, and happy dreading! <3

dreadlocks shampoo and dandruff

Dread Products

I was just curious as to if anybody has success with getting rid of dandruff with the dreadlocks shampoo you all speak about. Im a bit upset because i just ordered some rosemary lavendar and peppermint oils from mountain rose herbs and i've been using them with my baking soda washes and sometimes with my ACV rinse aswell and they have helped with the itching and the "musky" smell. However i thought my dandruff would have started to clear up by now and it hasn't, it's been 2 months since I started dreading. (just a side note, i had a tiny bit of dandruff to begin with but it's gotten worse since i cant brush any of it out now) Anyways my scalp feels fine, it rarely gets itchy, but then i look and the mirror and the flaking is still there! Will these shampoo bars help? I'm desperate to get rid of these flakes!!

Beads and baby dreads?

Dread Accessories

So about beads...I've heard they're great to speed up the locking and sectioning process and I've also heard they can cause the cutting off of circulation and that the lack of movement makes the dreading process slow down. My babes are at about a month and a half and a lot underneath are locking nicely while most on top are just barely sectioned off and continue to fall apart. Will placing small beads on the sections that won't dread help them lock together or will that just restrict movement and ableness of them to lock?

The hair on top?

Dread Maintenance

I know I'm just so excited to see what they look like in the future that I get carried away and forget the reason I decided to do this in the first place, which was to let go.
