I need some help with wrapping my dreads. They are very lumpy and bumpy, and I have been trying to wrap with colored unpolished (I think) hemp. Every time I wrap one it unravels out within the hour. I really like the wrapped look and I herd it can help smooth out lumps. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I have had my dreads for about 7 months now, but they don't seem to be getting any longer. All but like three strands have dreaded up and shrunk but now it's at a halt, my hair is not getting longer at all. About how long does it take before the length starts coming?

The gunk is in my dreads around the top, not the root though because my dreads have grown since I out them in. They are 7 months now. Do you know what the orange stuff is called? I think if my hair dryes out I can do maybe an aloe vera treatment to condition the area back.

So I made the mistake of putting rubber bands in my hair and forgetting to take them out. Yes, yes i know, very bad move. So now that I have messed up, what is the protocol to fix it? Some of them I was able to break out piece by piece but a few have melted into a goo/tar on my dread. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to let my dreads grow out and deal with the consequences?

So What's New?

General Talk

I haven't been on for the past few weeks due to work and my schooling but I wanted to let you guys know what happened this week.

If you don't already know, I am working on my bachelor's degree in graphic design online with fullsail university and this week was my first week in my first actual design class. I was really excited!. This is my 5th month but all of my other classes so far have been basics like english, art history, stuff like that (all taught in terms of design). This week marked the beginning of my designing computer graphics class. I'm learning about vector graphics with adobe illustrator and doing very well, I think. Anyway the really cool, dread-related part was that I am the only student in my class with dreads, and so while everyone else could use one closed shape for their hair, making their project easier, I had to produce may of them to represent my dreads, making it a little more difficult. I think the coolest part is that I have never seen vector drawn dreads before, let alone draw them myself! I hope at least a few of you understand or can relate on any level to this post. It would be awesome to meet some fellow artists!

Okay, so I asked you guys before about the weird balls at the end of my dreads and some of you wanted to see pictures. So I finally got the time between work and stuff to take some pictures. Let me know what you think:)
