Hello and a few questions.

Introduce Yourself

Be careful about ponytails. I wear them almost everyday at work and I ended up with a big mess between 2 dreads from different sides of my head and when I take it down I can tell all my dreads were trying to eat each other lol. I ended up wearing a tam to work instead.

Scared..

General Talk

I understand, I feel the same way. I love the idea of it, but I have a lot of social anxiety about it too.

How do I fix this dread?

Dread Maintenance

I usually do it in the shower, but somehow I missed this and it got pretty mature. I took a shower and picked at the connected part with a comb and it came apart. It looks kinda crazy and they stick out, but it didn't seem to do any real damage. Thanks for all the advice!

How do I fix this dread?

Dread Maintenance

I had two dreads that joined at the ends of my hair and they are waaaayyy too far apart to join together. I tried pulling them apart but it hurts and it feels like it will completely fuck up my hair. How can I *gently* separate these two dreads?

Dreads and the healthcare profession...

Life Issues Facing Dreads

I work in a nursing home and my little dementia patients think I have braids a lot. Others see my beads and think they're pretty, but I have gotten some funny looks from their families. But mostly, they are just grateful that I take care of their mom/dad/grandma/grandpa/husband/wife just like they were my own. IDK about other medical fields, tho. I'm mostly exposed to the same type of person in my line of work,

Wraps and dread rot

Dread Accessories

Ok. I was worried about it cuz a friend wanted to put one in my hair. She assured me it would be ok, but then she also puts wax in people's hair so I wanted a second opinion.

Wraps and dread rot

Dread Accessories

I love hair wraps they look awesome. But I just wonder if they could cause dread rot? It seems like water and other funk could get trapped in there and maybe they wouldn't get clean? And eventually couldn't they get trapped in the dread? Can they be easily removed if they start doing that? Could they inhibit the process?

Found my first 2 dreads!

Member Journals and Timelines

It is so much fun. Since using this shampoo my hair transforms every time I wake up. It's awesome. I feel like I actually accomplished my first milestone of patience. That was why I started my journey was to learn patience in place of vanity.

Found my first 2 dreads!

Member Journals and Timelines

I'm so excited! I've used the Lockin' Up dread shampoo twice now and while putting my hair up today I found one decent sized dread and one that's more of just a big knot lol. I'm so excited to have the first dreads of my second set forming completely natural. It took so much will power and patience not to TnR or back comb, but I got some motivation now. I have physical proof that my hair is making progress and I don't have to force it. So happy!

Going veg and need a hand

Dreads and Diets

You can supplement your soil with bags of organic gardening soil at first until you build up compost. And eating veg can be just as healthy if you know how to find nutrients in plants you normally get from meat.
