lifestyle change

Dready love

lol...well right now m mowing down on a bundle of parsley snips and some cashew milk (freshly made) because i decided to do my spring detox early and i have a horrible headache becasue i also stopped smoking just two days ago... its actually not that bad. ;)

aside from new improved concern for my body (temple) and what products i support and pay for to use at energizing this beast of a machine (im a girl.. ;) and also a mom. ) i've also started caring more about community. for example i watcha whole bunch of documentaries while cutting wire (for work) and made me want to travel meeet people see the earth, and my fellow earthlings..ya know. i feel connected. and the need for more connections.

i have more time in the morning, and i take shorter showers. my head stays nice and warm cause when im out i always have a hat on. lol.

overall i def feel different/energetic/curious, a lot of the anxious feeling has dissapated in me now. and only four weeks in. !!

Great topic! hope all is dreading nicely your way...

Myth Folklore Ancient Stories Of Powerful Dreads/Hair

History and Religious Significance

here's another one. From the"biblical character in the Old Testament named Samson.. the story of Samson and Delilah. In this, two countries are warring with each other. Samson is a man who's strength is a gift from God, however his strength comes from his hair. Delilah seduces Samson into tell him where his power comes from, so when he's sleeping she cuts it off, thus removing his superior strength. Delilah turns him in to the enemy where they chain him to two pillars and ridicule him every night. Unfortunately for them, they forgot to count on his hair growing back!"

Myth Folklore Ancient Stories Of Powerful Dreads/Hair

History and Religious Significance

Taye was my inspiration for starting this discussion. My other inspiration is my friend Pete...

... who told me an awesome mythical tale of great warrior huntsmen who had long beautiful locks, some of these great hunters were captured by ignorant men, who forced them to cut their hair, and hunt as slaves for their "masters" food. Once these men were sent out into the woods to hunt, they found they were not able to kill anything. They came back empty handed. Once their hair was cut, they lost the will/courage/energy/power/ect. to be the great huntsmen they once were.

Angry, the captors went out and gathered more men to enslave, deciding that maybe cutting their hair did have something to do with it (though it sounded crazy) They found that when they sent these men out to hunt, they indeed could still hunt and bring back great amounts of food.

..I wish i knew if this story had a "happy" ending where they rebelled against the captors, however i do not. i only got a part of the story during a breif game of darts while explaining to my dreadhead friend that i must cut my hair to donate becasue it was a vow i took. but that i would definatly grow it back out. :D and dread it.

Does anyone else know any awesome stories of powers in hair/ folklore where the hair is considered to be apart of onesself/aura; and to let it grow and be free makes your energy field larger/stronger/more powerful.

Very cool stuff.

dreadlocks shampoo pro and con

Dread Products

I ordered the tea tree/rosemary bar, and got a really yummy smeeling sample of the goddess bar, when i walk past it i get a huge wiff of awesomeness. ;D

Question: can i start using the bar now (only two weeks in) or should i stick to my current bs/acv washes and wait until i get some babies. I saw in the post above that @sunflower has been using bars and is a month in and has been getting good results. this could be different for everyone... I myself have not dreaded before, i have straight caucasian hair and my scalp get very dry/dandruff is usually a problem. :/

thanks for any advice. Happy dreading everyone!

New to the whole dread-thing :-)

Introduce Yourself

I wish I could like the comment above!

I too have heard of folklore/ancient stories of powers in hair. There was atribe who was captured by white men. The captors cut off the long grown hair of theese magnificent warriors. they sent them out (as slaves) to do thier hunting for them... they were no longer great warriors/huntsmen. they had lost thier power.

A good friend told me that story. hes had his (beautiful) dreads for over two years now. Tjhey started very short and now they are just awesome, and long, and wonderful. He told me that story when i was growing my hair out to donate (i donated 20 inches) i really wanted to dread then, but i had already decided to donate and wanted to fullfill that wish first. Anyways i thoguht it was a very powerful and provoking tale. when i did cut my hair, i noticed a change in myself that was different, i still felt good, and happy about my decision, but wanted to quickly grow out my hair and dread it... lol. it has only been about 9 months since my cut/donation, and my hair isnt very long yet, but i am starting my dread journey. All natural.

The people on this site who have been dreading many years have nothing but love and great advice to share... on that note..

...I would at least consider taking out the extensions, you never know it might become more than just an "awesome hairstyle" for you, and wouldnt the adventure be something to rememeber anyways!? Happy dreading! You have def come to the right site for the right kind of support and love for dreads!

Have a fantastic day!
