They have shrunk my hair by almost 9 inches and are so frizzy from the loose hairs that they look like crap! What am I not doing??? I for sure have dreads, but they are covered in fuzzy loose hairs
Yep. I am sometimes also confused. I do have some really tight in the back of my head, but the top ones are loose, with lot of fly aways, loose hairs and super frizzy. You barely can notice dread shapes and maybe lot of people who see me walking around would think that they are not dreads but a rat nest. I decided to be patient and give them more time. I went from chest size hair to ear size, and I even have some dreads the size of my little finger.
So I also agree that you have to give them a chance. I am only in my fifth month.

So this is normal? Cool....I was getting discouraged like I was doing something wrong. I appreciates the feedback

Just be patient and let them be.
They'll look great before you know it! :D
I think they look great in terms of progress. The next step after the shrinkage and dreading is for those loose hairs to get sucked into the dreads.
You can occasionally use aloe lightly to tame some of those frizzies but the more you use, the longer it will take for them to get sucked in.
