It's totally ok if your roots unravel...it will dread anyways. The roots are always the last to knot. Mine were dreaded by one month, but before that I had 1-3 inches of loose hair...freaked me out for a while..I didn't even notice but before I knew it they were knotted all the way to the scalp :)

Yeah I totally understand your fears. But the need to unravel a little to lock properly.My advice to anyone who's afraid of unraveling, get a wool sweater or anything made of wool and put it on your pillow. That will really help knotting a lot.

welcome but wow u are doing it all wrong no wax ever u need to get it all out and never backcon=mb every day all your doing is shreading your hair to peices u need to stop remove all traces of wax..then do nothing just let them dreead

Welcome. Oh dear you've been waxing, that's not good...that stuff will build up inside your dreads and cause water to get trapped and cause mold ... Read the link at the top, DREAD WAX TRUTH, you can hopefully get most of it out.Also you shouldn't backcomb everyday, once is enough. they need to loosen up to form their own knots.
