my hair is half as long as it was before, now that it has locked up. i put in some longer faux one when I miss thelength i was at before. Not all the time. It was more like "training weels" so I didn't freak out too muchduringmy adjustment period. Now I don't mind my "naked", shorter, dreads. All though I very much would like to get some woolpeacock dreads from that nice 'dreadgoddess" on etsy .

TnR=twist and ripHolding the hair loosely near the ends split the section into 2 and pull apart several times. Resplit the hair and repeat. Each pull apart the hair will tangle up a few strands and you will be pushing them up to the scalp end by pulling apart. If you're predictable it ends up looking kind of braid like, random is better (unless you don't mind braid like). There's a section in forums talking about it.

am new to this. what is tnr?
Hiya, have been watching your progress and I think they look great. My hair is down to my waist andI have started the neglect process.I have put three tnr at the base of my neck and im sort of seeing how they go whilst still continuing with the natural neglect method. Hope mine turn out as good as yours.

You guys are so kind thank you. Amy, I uploaded a picture of before to show you how long it was before. And then when I finished the tnr. I didn't lose a ton of length doing that at first. I wish I had done more back combing (I hadn't considered neglect at all) because I do prefer the few dreads I have that are back combed. I don't really care for the long skinny tail like ends of my dreads. That is from it being so long. Now if I'd of gone neglect it'd of been swallowed back up into them most likely, but oh well. My hair is so dry at the last 6" or so, that part seems to be just stagnant. I'm deep conditioning it once a week now because I can't stand the dryness. The knots will probably fall out eventually but idc :P
sooo thick and gorgeous, i love the color!
