just a quick pic of the top and back of my head, showing the results of a many-month experiment of separating constantly, but leaving small sections that have formed. underneath all that, in the back, there are plenty of thicker dreads with some crazy loops and funny shapes, plus there are lots of thinner ones forming on top that the pic doesn't capture. one day i'll have someone snap a pic of all that for me. dig that mess up on top there :)

i've been washing every 3-4 days with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle shampoo(for cost and convenience), and also been using a lemon juice/sea salt mixture which seems to give results that i like. Other than that. just separating probably every day, which probably gives me the ultra frizzies, but oh well.

don't use lemon juice! citric acids a strong enough acid to  dissolve rubber, glues, caulks, paints, tar, etc

whats worse it penetrates inside the hair shaft ..several layers deep where it just stays slowly breaking down the hair..granted diluted its not as strong as if you used it straight..but only use sea salt on its own don't mix with lemon juice

I think the strangest part of my journey so far is the shrinkage, especially in the back, where lots of dreading is going on. of course the loose hair is still long, especially on the sides, making for a slightly awkward look. i wonder how this will play out.. hopefully the loopy dreads will start gaining back some length soon?

Thank you sir. By that do you mean that I started with shortish hair for dreads? my loose hair is basically to my shoulders or more, but there's been plenty of shrinkage in the back!
