I think you're worrying too much =) Society doesn't often deviate from what is considered "normal". I'm a wine consultant, and even with hair that is dreading, I go into work looking very clean cut and nice every day. Your hair doesn't define who you are. With a solid resume, your hair doesn't make a difference.

Gothking: "as soon as my hair started to lock more."
Interesting poke at psychology. It's the messy crazy in-between stages they had a problem with. Ya know, this makes me want to go over to a 'fro site and ask people who wore the first 'fros here in the States what they went through. I'll bet it was the same!!! the whole "you've got a fro then you must be a slacker" kind of mentality.
Heaven help you if you don't fight your hair for an hour every day trying to get it to look like a celebrity's.
The more I look at my hair as it's changing the more I want to say, "This is my ethic hair. Deal with it."

Oh no!! I wasn't offended. I was trying to get deeper into what you were saying. I think that when people stopped harassing you it wasn't entirely coincidental that it was when your hair got more defined and neater.

... and that I can imagine that the same experience would apply to people with African hair attempting to go natural. They must've gotten hell for it in the beginning before it became 'chic.'
Glad your boss accepts your individuality, man! You can enlighten people by your good actions and temperment.

Just smile at those customers who give you crap, gothking!!!! (fake it till you make it) Dazzle them with your bright spark. Later they'll realize they were not very kind to a person who does deserve it and hopefully the experience will soften their heart toward others they come into contact with.
Insomnia bites. I can unfortunately empathize with you. Sometimes I have to be medicated to hell and back for it(Ambien and stronger) If you haven't slept in over four days-- PLEASE go to your doctor. It's not healthy and technically, after day 5 you're considered mentally incompetent. One time I got to day 6 and thought my heart was going to stop. Insomnia is serious if it lasts more than two days. You're not safe to drive or even be counted on to walk straight line once you're past day four.
And yup, I am working on some lovely locks. I'm in week four but have really curly hair so it's going to be fast for me. I have albums of pics set up on my profile. Still recovering from using Suave clarifying shampoo two weeks ago. Egads. Just posting the pictures now. Horrifying experience. Never again!!
Knotty love! Smile and share it!! (...even when going through those quirky in-between stages..lol)
