getting my hair wet

I understand that while growing dreads naturally, they're meant to be dry, right?

But it's very wet these days with winter coming up, very heavy rain that pretty much drowns your hair and I was wondering if, this will be a problem. Or is it all part of the natural process, let the elements do what they need to do kind of thing, same with the wind as well and probably snow come Christmas...

As for washing it, I've been doing that every 2 or 3 but right now more concerned with simply the weather.

Thanks.

I wash my dreads sometimes 4 or 5 times a week lately, which is kind of overkill. I try and only do wash them once or twice a week. I work outside in the elements and I get pretty dirty at work I wear double up a pair of pantyhose orwrap themup in a tshirtand put them over my dreads and wear a tam so no dirt, dust, or sawdust get in my dreads.

Its ok for them to get wet u just have to make sure that they get completely dry before you wash them again or it could cause mold or mould issues

the texture should be dry as in less oils

but they like getting wet it helps em dread just not constantly so they never dry

I get it I think, the water will help it dread but just don't overdo it, otherwise it builds a tolerance kind of thing?

soooo sslllooowwww !!!

if u have a dirty job then wash em as much (or as little) as u think u need -just make sure u dry em properly (mold etc as mentioned by SE).

a tam type hat is a good invention for covering hair.

unfortunaely ive been riding a bike since last year and also have to wear a hard hat at work so i only wear my tam at weekends.

using bicarb cuts down rinsing time massively

to dry i usuallly go out in the garden first and spin em round lol
