how are you drying them?

i wring them out in a towel then let air dry sometimes sit in front of my wall heater. if they don't dry for a few hours i get my blow dryer out

ok well you may not want to wring them, or use a towel. just using your hands & squeezing & shaking is good & fine, & if you can skip the blow dryer for a bit so they can get some good knotting set up for a bit that may help too (but I totally get that sometimes you just need to be dry...now!)

I would think that getting the water pressure as soft as possible helps. I felt the same way you did now I soak the sponge and squeeze it over my head to get my hair wet.
