Excessive palm rolling is essentially doing the same thing as re-twisting: It pulls at your roots causing thinning and is absolutely pointless for shaping the dread because the hair will just do what it wants to do naturally.
Over time, while your locks develop, that twisted look will smooth out as the hair starts to lock up. They look really good so far and I am so relieved to read that no wax was used to get them started *yay*
If you do go for the dreadlocks shampoo on the site that SE suggested, you will definitely not need the moisturizers because I noticed when using the liquid version of the shampoo my hair got pretty soft.
