Hello all....I am a newbie to the site, and to dreads as well.4 nights ago I had a friend attemp to put dreads in my hair by backcoming. My hair looked like a big frizzy mess, as I think she may have done them a little to quickly (now with the info i have learned here, they probably looked exactly how they should) I panicked and drove two hours from home last night to a specialist who backcombed and crotcheted them. She did say she is very careful with crotcheting, as it can cause damage. I had human hair extension that she added by crotchet and sewing, to half my head then we ran out of time. So now a little to late I found this site. I have read enough to know i will not crotchet them any more. I am not sure if i need to start the conditioning and all or just let them go, but my question is about the remainder of the extensions. Should i just finish up with crotcheting them in, and then throw away the crochet hook, or is there a better way to add them.. I know the biggest response i willl get is dont put them in...but it is very silly looking with half long and half short. I am a runner and really want to be able to pull my hair back as well. Thanks so much in advance, and I LOVE this site! Cheers

id take the ones u got out but how longs yoir hair if u cant tye em back they wont bother u not being tyed back till long enough to tye back

u can attach them by combing out the ends to meet an inch or 2 mesh them together till the knotted parts meet and the loose parts overlap the knotted parts then wrap the joints like a cast to hold them on till the joints dread together
