I know that on this site we tell you all how bad the hook is for dreads, and it is, don't get me wrong. But this is an extreme exception, it is to reattach dreads for this member. So anyone out there that can help, please let us know, let Soaring Eagle know, or let Barefoot Deadfreak know. Thank you all so much... Namaste'

That's so sad... My first instinct is to ask how they became unattached from his head... but that's reallyirrelevant. The thing is, I don't know about your friend, but if mine were to come unattached from my head for whatever reason, (except maybe something like chemo or something of that nature), then crocheting them back on just wouldn't be there same. Once cut andseparated, I'd feel they were lost...
Now on the plus side, your friend has 3 or 4 inches of hair, I think I read somewhere on here that you could start a fresh set with 3 inches (I might be wrong, but if so, if not by much). He could look at this as a shedding of any oldnegativity, trauma, drama, etc... and now has a chance to start brand new with something as amazing as dreadlocks to mark theoccasion. If you think about it, that's really pretty awesome! I think if I were him (and I'm not so I can't speak for what happened or how he is feeling), I'd make changes that I knew I needed to make (we all have some of those), and go for it.
He should start a timeline NOW, so he can look at his progress of both his hair and is well-being.
I know it's not much, but I hope it brings him some peace...
Take care!

Hi Carol, this member posted help and did not get any replies. I am trying to help him so I made a post myself. This is his original posting: http://www.dreadlockssite.com/forum/topics/need-dread-surgery
It is a really sad story, he has not cut his hair since 1973 and during a very bad time with the flu and delusions due to this, he cut them off. This was a huge part of him and he needs them back. Right Away. If you know of anyone that can help, please have them contact him. Thanks for responding. ..Peace

He needs a gentle souled person who will respect his own cut off dreads and reattach them with the care and love that they deserve. An unknown loctician may not have the same respect for them as we would. If you know of a friend that has a heart and truly cares, please ask them if they can help. I can't even imagine what it must feel like after all those years, it would be like Soaring Eagle losing his in an unfortunate circumstance....unimaginable. ...Peace to all and thank you for reading this
