Brick Laying Method when starting my Dreadlocks?

Hi everyone, im worried about the bricklaying method of sectioning my hair. Because the sections at the front/sides will be half the thickness every other row. Has anyone done this method and are there advantages and disadvantages. Sorry if it sounds stupid, but I want to get it right..

Thank you,

Leon Brendan Davis.

you can do triangles or fans instead ( http://www.doctoredlocks.com/catalog/Braid-and-Dreadlock-Sectioning-Tutorial.html ) or just grab bits & pieces as you see fit, you don't really have to follow any sort of grid. or let your hair section itself for a few days/weeks & then use your natural sectioning. variety & variation is good, helps them look natural & have a "flow" to your head. even if you do a grid they may not keep to it very well, dreads have a tendency to do what they want ;)

brick layer sections are good to make sure your dreads don't show much scalp on the back give a nice full look . Mine are majority brick layer but of course some are not all the same and I have a few lil sections that made themselves from loose hairs becoming baby dreads .it is okay if they aren't all the same size . unless you are looking for that all perfect same size look.

Welcome but why do you want a checkerboard on your head? Ignore the idiotic advice on dreaded headquarters. Nobody want to checkerboard head

Just section randomly, they don't have to be the same size or in any pattern why back comb just let dread naturally.

You already screwed up with wax in the past, taking bad advice before don't screw up again by giving yourself a checkerboard head

Thanks Ixchel for the advice, I think I will go for grid, however, different sizes. 1 inch and 1 and a half inch. One last question.. will my dreads be as thick as the root sections eventually?
