Sleeping with Long Dreads

Hey there :)

So got a question for those of you who have had or have long dreads ...My hair goes about to the middle of my back, which is long enough that when Im laying down or have my back pressed against something, my hair gets in the way and can make for very uncomfortable turns every now and again...So, my question is, in what ways can I avoid this while sleeping? (Keep in mind im still fairly new to thenatural dread world coming up on 4 months)....So,It would be ideal to have it tied up, but I feel that is way too long of a period of time formy dreads to be smothered. How bout a tam? What do you guys think?

Toss them up over the back or your pillow, when you lay down just flip them up no matter what way ya lay! Or wear a tam!!
