HELP!!!

Hi!

I really need some help/advice

I began my dreads about a month before Christmas (back-combed and lightly waxed - don't judge me they looked lovely!!!) but they had started to come loose at the root as my hair had grown SO I decided to look up a dreadlock specialist as they were starting to matt together and I had tried rubbing them against my scalp but it just didn't work (I need to look quite tidy as I'm a teacher/childcare provider!). Anyway, I have just returned from 4 hours of the most painful hair 'treatment' I have ever experienced - the lady attacked my dreads with a crochet hook making holes on them from the root and further down and then pulling the whole drea through the hole - my scalp is so tight now I look like I've had surgery!!!

My dreads were beautiful and puffy before but now they are knobbly and stiff!!!

HELP - does anyone know if there is anything I can do to heal them or if they will look better with time!?!

Many thanks

L

I'm still a very early dreadling myself but the thing i've learned so far is that you become the dread specialist of your own head, with a lot of time and patience and really just observation and good hygiene . I was gonna crochet my dreads buttt that I hear is not the best(bad) for your hair, so, I would say really the best thing you could do probably is to make sure you get the wax out by washing very carefully, and leave the rest alone so the frizzy broken hairs will either fall away as your hair unties from the crochet ripping and then locks up naturally. good luck and hope I helped some!

ok u got alottsa problems and they severely fucked u that was called interlocking u got to undo that ! you havde to threadthem back throuigh so theyre no loger tucked through the holes then the crochet was a huge mistake too but that u just goytta wait out and u got to remove all traces of waxx andf never ever ever let any loctician screw up yputr dreads!

the interlocking must be undone right away cause if not u will never be able to fix it and have permenant weak spots u should also call the loctician demand a full refund and tell them thstay have no right to meess up ppls dreads that way if they know nothing about proper dread care

thread the dreads backjthrouigh the gaps if they did it more then once u are gonna have trouble

then do nothing to the roots but seperate no ryubbing! they will be loose and should be loose they take time to tighten u cannot rush it without harm..to look tidy just style them dont ruin them

Hi again!

Thought I would post a quick update - after my last update (and your response Soaring Eagle!) I managed to get rid of the interlocking - some had to be started from scratch and some I managed to rescue. It took AGES but I am finally getting back my beautiful natural puffy dreadies - have also resisted the temptation to use wax too!

Will post some piccies soon.

Absolutely love the website and seeing so many pics of gorgeous dreads!
