Found a dread..want to clean it up

I found a dread a couple of days ago in my hair and I would like to know how to 'tighten' it up at the roots so that I can make the entire dread uniform and aesthetic. What can I do?

I'm not trying to dread my hair (I condition and brush multiple times a week), it just kind of happened. I'd like to use some sort of leather wrap+a hair charm to decorate it too, so any information I can use to get this loc prepped for that would be much appreciated..

Let it go. Brush the rest of your hair as usual if u dont wish for the rest to dread. It will tighten on its own over time. Any kind of methods to progress the dread will damage your hair. Give it three more months and u'll have a dread. You can stick a bead or wraps on it anytime you want.
