you should check out this link its just to another part of the site but it will give you some good info on back combing... and yea from what i have come to understand that is supposed to happen cause you hair is moving into a postition so that it can knot up the way it wants to http://www.dreadlockssite.com/page/backcombing-dreads-guide
im not sure if it "sposed to happen "to quite that extent tho, mine loosend up a bit but nothing like that( they appear to have completely fallen out), but they seem to be holding their sections well which is a great platforrm to go the natural/neglect route from here... labmofgod said:

how often were you washing b4 hand? and just coz you see sumthing on here dosnt mean it guna work for you... every1 is differant... from what i can see in ya pics, it seems to have sectioned off nicly any ways, so id just let em do their thing from here on in ,and seperate them regualy. youll end up with more organic lookin dreads that way, if thats what ya after? and maybe beads to help keep the sections...maybe\...... there is a heading sumwhere on here for ripping/seperating. ide see how that goes b4 stickin shit in there tho... happy travels... well when i tried to twist and rip and when i tried back combing that happened some of them completely unraveled and i mean completely even to the point that they lost there sections and just kinda meshed back together into straight unknoted hair... and anyway its always good to examine and understand the extremes of what can happen. ratcakie said:

Backcombing doesn't give you dreadlocks, it only starts the foundation of the sectioning. You dreads are going to get looser and fall appart before they become dready. The elastics kept your hair from moving, and now your hair has gone poof. Movement = knots = dreads. Just let them be.

Just let them be man, maybe put a couple of beads on the sections that are really loose. I'm on my third week too! Right now, most of my hair is this crazy frizzy curly mess, but the ends are sticking together, and if you look reallllly reallly close they formed some of their own sections. Your hair simply does what it wants in the end
