Welcome. But stopping using wax is not enough. Wax will never wash out in your normal wash. If it feels like it is, that just means that it's getting covered by hair and forced deeper into the lock. You need to remove it to see any real progress.

And next to wax in most damaging, is crocheting. It does nothing for the longevity of your locks but ruins them. Crocheting give the illusion of neat locks by breaking hairs left and right every time it's forced through. In a sessions with it, you can make the tips of your locks no longer attach to your scalp. Multiple uses, and your entire lock is just made up of broken hairs. This weaken them 30%-70%.

And check out my video on palm rolling. I did it for 2 weeks when I first started and, 6 years later, I am still trying to fix the damage done to my roots. Nothing good comes from palm rolling

Welcome. Keep going neglect. Don't just try it. Dreadlocks take an average of 1 year to mature. So I'd wait at least a year before you decide anything different.
