Welcome. For your first year your forming dreads may look messy and unkemp, but they will turn into awesome dreads that girls LOVE. Dreads are SEXY. Dreads show you have a SPIRITED SOUL. Look at your future dreads 2 or 3 years from now, who wouldn't love em?

Other members have left you great tips, here is mine- use a towel the same color as your hair, that way you will not see the fluff balls. Also a micro fiber towel/ Shamwow type will absorb lots of water from your hair, this will speed up the drying time.

You will know when the time is right for you, Peace

Welcome. Neglect will lead to the healthiest locks. All you need to do is wash with a non residue soap or Baking soda (I think you guys call it bread soda). Then as they start to form, separate them so they don't grow into huge massive locks.

They don't need to be and shouldn't be all even.

NEVER use wax. At best, wax prevents all knotting. At worst, and very common, wax causes mold and mildew which make your locks rot from the inside out.
