Welcome. Did you use any gunk in the beginning? if so, you may need to do some extra cleaning to get it out. Most of the stuff recommended doesn't actually rinse out as well as it may seem

Welcome. What exactly do you do to retighten them? Locks don't need retightening. For them to be healthy, there needs to be about 0.5 - 1 inch of loose hair at the roots. Twisting or crocheting that hair into your locks only forces the hair around the lock to get pulled out of your scalp, thinning your locks, and weakening them. I'd love to see pics in order to better understand what's going on

lets see them (and your scalp) and please tell us how you do the retightening and why

dreads are as tight as they should ever be once mature forcing them to be tighter causes traction alopecia and makes them stiff and destroys the scalp so u go bald fast
