length- my hair was past my shoulders when i initially started. i backcombed ad left them alone for a month and they didnt really lose much length at all. but then i crocheted, which im hoping you will not do. once i crocheted my hair lost 8-9 in in length, shorter than it is now. big mistake.
aloe is a great product to use- i wouldnt worry about residue, i dont think its an issue with -all natural pure 100%- aloe gel or aloe leaves. but that said, its really isntnecessary. i use it as a styling product to tame frizzies for work occasionally, but thats about it.
