Welcome. Tightening your scalp/roots yourself does a lot of damage. How are you doing it? Twisting? Interlocking? root rubbing?
And palm rolling actually doesn't help. It only does 1 of 2 things. If you don't do it a lot, it doesn't create lasting knots. If you do it enough to see progress, it thins out your roots. I know people do it out of habit, or just for something to keep their hands busy, but it really can cause more problems .
