Welcome. Don't think of it as being unfortunate. Unless you're not happy with how they turned out. Many people back combed and love it. As long as you didn't use wax or a crochet hook, your locks should be just fine. Share some pics

Welcome to the community Ari and greetings to Indonesia! Sorry to hear that you ended up with a perm, I know some shy people who also never speak up when at a salon. Are your dreads dry? Do you need help with that? From here on in, just let your dreads be, all you need to do to them now is wash them once a week since you are now 18 months into your journey. Use a dread friendly shampoo or bar for them. Separate any sections that are trying to join onto each other to avoid congos. And that is all you need to do, nothing else but give them love. If yours are dry, we can help you with that and get them nice and soft again. Glad you joined us here, we all found the best site on the web for healthy dreadlocks.....peace

why in the world anyone would perm already established dreads is beyond me except they wanted your money

u can use some jojoba or aloe to condition since most likely they are pretty fried and dried out badly

Perming permanently damages your hair. There's no way to undo this damage. But if you just let it keep going natural from now on, they will heal themselves a bit. The part that was permed will always have a slightly different, and noticeable texture than the rest of your hair. But only doing it that one time won't cause so much damage that you should feel the need to start over completely.

Just be sure not to do it again.

The best lesson you can learn from this is to NEVER let someone do any maintenance on your locks. You can let people touch/feel your locks, if you feel comfortable with that. But if they offer to "work" on them, just say no
