Welcome. I feel like I should warn you about crocheting. Unfortunately, the times you feel like you "need" it is because the crocheting is causing tons of damage, breaking hairs into smaller and smaller pieces, which makes them frizzy. It also weakens and over tightens them. Even crocheting a few times a year will takes years off of how long they last.

Also, palm rolling is pretty pointless. It only does one of 2 things. If you don't do it often, it doesn't create lasting knots. But if you do it enough to see progress, it does severe damage. I palm rolled for only the first 2 weeks, and 8 years later, I'm still fighting with trying to fix the damage.
